PVG Start of Year Message - 2019

Dear Parent Community,

We would like to welcome you to a new school year. In particular, we would like to welcome our new families to the Parent Volunteer Group (PVG). The 2019-2020 year will be an exciting one for all of us!

The PVG is an integral part of the FA community: providing a place for parents/guardians to connect and be involved with the growth and success of our children (view the PVG Mandate).

Last year we saw a record number of parents get involved in all PVG and school related events. This is a very pleasing trend that we hope will continue this year! Thank you to the families who have supported and attended our various community connection events, and PVG sponsored fundraisers.

Looking Ahead

Action Item: The PVG Survey

We would like your feedback on how the PVG can best support our parent community. Please take a few minutes to fill out our survey by September 12.

Take the Survey

A primary goal of the PVG is to build a community where parents not only know their child’s grade parents, but have connections with parents across multiple grades.

We are a diverse but strong community who all have one thing in common – a child with language-based learning differences. By coming together, we can make their world brighter and help them achieve their full potential, not stifled by norms, stereotypes or limitations.

We are all ambassadors for people with dyslexia. We can be a moving force in the greater community. We can also help build an environment where all kids who need the unique program of Fraser Academy can access it.

This year our goal is to have 100% Fraser Academy community involvement. What exactly does that mean for you? First, we would love to see you at our events! Other ways to be involved include volunteering your time, participating in our fundraisers, sponsoring an event, or bringing good ideas to the table from your life experiences. The village is stronger when the village works together.

On the horizon:

1st PVG Meeting of the Year

Join us on Friday, October 4 – 8:00-9:15am at Fraser Academy. This PVG Meeting will be followed by a New Parent Coffee social. We hope to see everyone there!

Class Parents

We will continue to grow the Class Parent representations – ideally, we would like to see more than one class parent per grade as we continue to increase the responsibility and importance of this position. If that may be of interest to you, please reach out to Belinda Curyer at FApvg@fraseracademy.ca.
